On 25th October 2018 I suffered from a thunderclap headache which turned out to be a Grade 4 subarachnoid haemorrhage (SAH). Luckily I was taken to Oxford University Trust where they carried out EVD and craniotomy for clipping, of what was probably a congenital aneurysm. After 6 weeks in hospital, I started my new life post SAH and the long, slow and challenging journey following an acquired brain injury.
I had challenges with mobility, fatigue, memory loss, emotions and sight loss. Loss of cognition and executive function severely affected my confidence, self assurance and joy for life. I had to give up my drivers licence and couldn’t see to drive. The NHS had limited resources to help me. At that time it was the charity Headway Thames Valley that was there for me. For psychological support and Occupational Therapy, which really helped me start to put my life back together, and helped me with simple things like going shopping. And with peer support you meet people who are on the same journey and just get it and get you. Thank you to the dedicated team at Headway Thames Valley
Please make a donation to this small charity who can help the people in Oxfordshire and Berkshire get their lives back after a brain injury. Thank You.
